 The Way, the Truth, and the Life

 

John 14:6-7 Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; and from now on you know him and have seen him."

After finishing his last meal with his disciples, Jesus said that he was leaving this world and going to God. Jesus, who knew well the worries of his disciples, comforted them by saying, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me."

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” This dwelling place refers to the spiritual body (resurrection). It is the clothing of Christ that the reborn wear.

Jesus said that his disciples knew the path he was taking because he had been with them for the past three years, showing them many things and teaching them. "You know the way to the place where I am going." However, Thomas, who was very skeptical among the disciples, answered that since he did not even know where Jesus was going or the destination, how could he know the path he was taking?

To Thomas's answer, the Lord said, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" This means that there is no other way to God than through the cross. This means that those who are united with the cross will receive the resurrection of life and go to the Father.

Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it will suffice us." Jesus answered him, "Have I been so long time with you, and yet you have not known me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works."

In Christ, God and the saints become one. Because they are united through the present death of the cross and the present resurrection, the saints become one with God in Christ. Therefore, "Jesus being before Philip" means that he is united with God, that is, "Jesus is in God and God is in Jesus" by the power of the Holy Spirit, and God, Jesus, and the disciples including Philip become one in the Holy Spirit. This is the Trinity.

Philippians 2:6 says, “He is the very essence of God,” which means that Father God and Son Jesus Christ are one in the Holy Spirit. Jesus also says, “Very truly I tell you, he who believes in me will do the works that I do, and he will do greater works than these, because I go to the Father.” This means that those who are in Jesus Christ will do the works that Jesus does and will do greater works. The Lord works through those who believe in Him. That is why He shares the resurrection life with the people of the world through His disciples.

Jesus is the resurrection life, and his disciples are also reborn with the resurrection life, and through them, the people of the world are reborn with the resurrection life. When you realize that you are a being who must die on the cross with Jesus, and realize that Jesus who was hung on the cross is you, and believe that you too have died, then God acknowledges it. And God gives you the grace of the resurrection life.

Romans 6:4-5 “Therefore we were buried with him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be in a resurrection like his.”

The one who is buried (dead) is the physical body. And it is to be re-clothed with a new spiritual body. It tells us that we must die twice. The first death is the spiritual being being born with a physical body. In other words, it means spiritual death. The second death is the death of the physical body. Only by dying with Jesus can the spirit come to life. Therefore, the spirit wears a spiritual body. It means returning to the original state. This is the resurrection life. Resurrection is returning to the original state, returning to the life of heaven. Since we came from heaven to earth, resurrection is returning to heaven again.

Luke 20:36 "Neither can they die any more, for they are equal to the angels and are children of God, being children of the resurrection." Since the spirits imprisoned in human bodies came from fallen angels, resurrection means returning to the angelic spirits.
